Welcome
Tearmann aoibhinn, fianaise ar stair na muintire, údar cheiliúrtha ar shaothar na nglúnta a bhí, lón anama dá bhfuil le teacht.
Connecting people with culture, creativity, nature & landscape in a restored Connemara hill-village (clachán) on 200 acres of natural wilderness.
“A beautifully restored hill village that sits on layers of Irish history, Cnoc Suain offers a thorough immersion in local culture. It is serving as a trailblazer and a powerhouse in promoting sustainability and mindfulness of the earth’s – and mankind’s – precious resources.”
Global Vision Award Winner 2010 – Travel & Leisure Magazine
Surrounded by ancient blanket bogland, overlooking mountains, river, lake, and sea, Cnoc Suain, an award-winning cultural retreat, with cottages dating back to the 17th century, offers memorable cultural experiences and relaxing peaceful stays.
Located in the Conamara Gaeltacht (Gaelic-speaking area of Connemara), we offer a unique window into Irish Gaelic culture, both traditional and contemporary. Close to nature, our sustainably restored cottages are available for private holiday rental at certain times of the year.

Awards
Cnoc Suain has won numerous national and international awards for innovative cultural experiences; visitor satisfaction; sustainable restoration and environmental stewardship.
Awards include Ireland’s Best Cultural Experience at the Irish Tourism Industry Awards 2017; 2009 The Guardian ‘World Ethical Travel Award’; 2010 Travel + Leisure ‘Global Vision Award’; 2015 WRTA ‘World Responsible Tourism Award’ and 2015 Society of American Travel Writers ‘Phoenix Award’. Please note
Due to limited capacity and the fragile bogland environment surrounding the hill-village, visitor numbers are carefully managed.
Cnoc Suain is not open to the public on a ‘drop-in’ basis. Pre-booking on-line essential for cottage stays and cultural experiences.
